"Working with Sarah is such a joy. Her presence is calming and non-judgmental. Her services are most definitely worth it and I would welcome her back into my home anytime." - Colleen
Why hire a postpartum doula? Most parents will tell you that navigating through the first days, weeks and months after bringing a new baby into the fold is anything but easy! A postpartum doula is there to help parents learn and adjust as they adapt to their new role. A postpartum doula provides evidence based information on things such as emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother-baby bonding, infant feeding, infant soothing and basic newborn care.
Research by experts tells us that parents who have support and feel secure and cared for during this time, are more successful at adapting than those who do not. The ways in which mother, baby, partner and siblings transition into a new family unit have a long-term impact on their physical and emotional health. The postpartum doula is able to facilitate a smooth and rewarding transition for the family.
Essentially, as a postpartum doula I "mother the new mother," while nurturing and supporting the whole family unit. I will aim to foster confidence in the parents, while tending to the unique needs of the family's postpartum experience.
